Salary: R990,747 per annum (all-inclusive salary package, structured according to OSD rules)

Location: Cape Town (Regional Office)

Requirements:

– Degree in Quantity Surveying or relevant qualification

– Registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor with SACQSP (South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession)

– Six years of post-qualification Quantity Survey experience

– Experience in infrastructure projects (both capital/new and maintenance/existing) from start to finish

– Proficiency in technical consulting and report writing

– Ability to create Bill of Quantities, submit payment certificates, and manage project budgets

– Familiarity with institutional systems/processes

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team

– Knowledge of relevant legislation and construction industry contracts

– Good human relations and communication skills (written and oral)

– Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Supply chain management, and Contract Management

– Understanding of built environment legislatives/regulating requirements

– Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

Duties:

– Provide technical support to Project Managers in evaluating consultants’ solutions

– Maintain operational agreements between Client Departments and Department of Public Works

– Conduct quality surveys on building designs

– Inspect buildings under construction and ensure compliance with standards

– Inspect existing buildings to optimize property utilization

– Review and approve new architectural designs

– Set maintenance standards and service levels

– Manage risk and provide technical consulting services

– Monitor and control expenditure

– Check tender documentation

– Monitor and control consultants’ performance

– Mentor and develop technical personnel

– Develop and implement work systems and processes for efficiency
