Location: Tara the H. Moross Centre, Sandton

Requirements:

– Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology

– Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in the appropriate category

– Broad experience working in a psychiatric setting

– Knowledge and experience working with a wide range of patients, including adults, children, adolescents, and their families

– In-depth knowledge and experience with complex trauma and psychopathology within individuals and systems

– Experience in psychometric assessment, different forms of individual and group therapy including DBT, and parent counseling

– Supervising, lecturing, and training skills

– Knowledge of the Mental Health Care Act, Children’s Act, and other laws and policies pertaining to the field

– Sound knowledge of professional ethics

– Computer literate

– Possession of a valid driver’s license

Duties:

– Psychometric evaluation and provision of suitable therapeutic modalities and interventions, including the outpatient family therapy clinic

– Training and supervision of psychology interns, psychiatric registrars, medical students, and nursing staff

– Working within and leading a multidisciplinary team

– Coordinating, developing, and promoting service delivery in the hospital

– Collaborating with and participating in hospital committees and the broader academic circuit

– Joint appointment with the Department of Psychiatry, University of the Witwatersrand, and participating in the teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students and health professionals

– Attending and participating in relevant ward rounds and meetings

– Knowledge of the local mental health care environment and providing outreach services to the surrounding community
